Covid has blocked many opportunities for young artists in 2020. In order not to let them down, To Be Antwerp and all participants invite the artists this year to present their work in a different way. Discover the new batch of graduates by walking the window exhibition.
Toneelhuis will also take part: artist Dirk van der Vijgh will show his work digitally. Explore this on your own computer
"In my work I juxtapose mythology and digital media, almost like a duet of opposites. The guiding principle of my installation, myth, is primarily concerned with existence itself. Computers, in contrast, distract from it. Today we are replacing the gallery and the stage digitally. In my work, on the Toneelhuis website, my own instincts mingle with a virtual visit to the Bourlaschouwburg".

The art route can be visited from 27 November to 11 December 2020. The work of Dirk van der Vijgh can be explored from 27 November on this page.
_______
Dirk van der Vijgh was trained as a painter at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. A fascination with myths is central to his work. Temples, churches and painted caves, these seemingly sacred spaces of experience, are sources of inspiration to him, used to create work that feels contemporary. Since 2019 he has been experimenting with large installations of paper cutouts (La Residencia de Papel de Daedalus, 2019) and digital installations in contemporary spaces (The Academy Paintings, 2020).
