Turkish spectators who had come out of curiosity, were captivated by what they saw. Many questions followed the performance: about Cassiers’ adaptation of the extraordinary novel into an ingenious play, about the stylized set and finally about Europe today. The audience was made to think about the link between the Nazi regime and the current political situation.

Guy Cassiers, flanked by Katelijne Damen (who played three roles in Istanbul) explained his decisions and emphases in an animated discussion with the audience after the performance. Take a look at the video.
