For his theatre performance Dagboek van een lege bed (Diary of an empty bed) - selected for the Flemish and Dutch Theatre Festival - the Iraqi theatre-maker Mokhallad Rasem relies on the many notes he has taken over the years.
The text of the performance has been published in a trilingual edition - Dutch, English and Arabic - illustrated with drawings by the author.
