Simon Van Schuylenbergh

Simon Van Schuylenbergh is a performer and theatremaker, and moving spirit behind the collective theatre practice Ne mosquito pas (Brussels).

In 2015, as part of his theatre studies at KASK, he started making performances with zebras. (He constructed 10 life-sized zebras out of papier-mâché for this purpose, graduating in 2016 with the performance Solo met zebra (Solo with Zebra). 

Since 2019, Van Schuylenbergh has worked with performers/theatremakers Micha Goldberg, Sophia Rodriguez, Louis Vanhaverbeke, Rosie Sommers and Nathan Ooms at the Volksroom off-space, an artist-run organization founded in 2013 by performer Ivo Dimchev in the municipality of Anderlecht. There, in 2019, Simon Van Schuylenbergh and performers/ theatremakers Anna Franziska Jäger and Nathan Ooms developed the performance platform Ne mosquito pas. In September 2023, this platform came to an end with a phenomenal, 16-hour marathon of 50 solos at Decoratelier/ Jozef Wouters (Molenbeek).

As a performer, Simon appeared in Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe’s opera production A Revue (2020). In 2024, he and 13 performers from the Ne Mosquito Pas platform made the production GERMAN STAATSTHEATER, under the direction of Micha Goldberg & Rosie Sommers. This show was presented at Toneelhuis, among other places. Van Schuylenbergh also appeared at Toneelhuis in the project Friction, directed by Sophia Rodriguez (2023). In the spring of 2026, he will be performing in the Belgian remake of Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe’s Give up, old Ghosts!, also at Toneelhuis. The original German premiere of this show took place in December 2024 at Schauspielhaus Bochum.

In the 2025-2026 season, Simon Van Schuylenbergh is working at the Ateliers on Dark Habits, which will premiere in 2026 at the Theater Aan Zee festival.
