Season 2024-2025

What we call the beginning is often the end / And to make an end is to make a beginning. / The end is where we start from.

T.S. Eliot - The Four Quartets

In our new shows you will see time pass by in all its forms: cyclical time, transience, adolescence, destructive wartime, nostalgia for a time gone by, but also the hopeful longing for a new time.

“The end is where we start from.” That also applies to the end of next season. For then we will be closing our beloved Bourla for much-needed renovations. But not without first living it up in style, during the Bye Bye Bourla festival!

Everyone is welcome!

Premieres

Mantike Theatre 20 May 2027 until 22 May 2027

Mantike

Toneelhuis / Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe

Mantike is an invitation to discover how we can enter an unwritten future together. Not a prophecy, not doom-mongering, but an invitation to let go of what locks us in place. To build a future that is not preordained for us, but that we invent ourselves.

Love and longing as devastating driving force during a family reunion. Chekhov’s De Meeuw (The Seagull) is a wonderful, tender play about young people with new ideas and an older generation that feels threatened by this. For the first time, a repertory play has been entirely translated into and performed in Flemish Sign Language, presented by a mixed cast of deaf actors and actors with normal hearing.

Werken en dagen Theatre 17 December 2026 until 20 December 2026

Werken en dagen

Toneelhuis / FC Bergman

A reflection about living on (and with) the land. A way of life based on the rhythm of the seasons, according to the laws of nature and the practices of the community that works the soil. But a new age is wending its way in this fragile marriage between people and earth. An ode to the irrepressible power of the group and the boundless might of nature.
